Ellen Leifman – MS, MAOM

Licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist

Ellen Leifman found her way to Asian medicine because of a strong desire to find work that allowed her to use a hands-on approach to connect with people. While helping an acupuncturist friend manage his office, she saw the benefits patients received from acupuncture treatment and knew she had found her new career.

She decided then to return to school to study Asian Medicine and knows she made the right choice by doing so. Ellen finds that Oriental Medicine effectively treats the whole person in a non-invasive way, addressing both the symptoms and the root of the illness. This depth of treatment helps to promote overall health, prevent the recurrence of disease and discourage new illness from occurring.

Ellen holds a Master’s Degree (MAOM) in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA). She has studied Chinese acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture styles, and Chinese herbal medicine. She continues advanced study of Shakuju Therapy, with Kobayashi Shoji, who created this non-insertive acupuncture style and practices in Tokyo. She also taught 10 years at the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA, now part of Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Services (MCPHS) serving as a clinical supervisor and clinical assistant. She has sponsored trips to Japan for acupuncture study and cultural exchange, and she has also brought Japanese master practitioners to the US to teach. She helped foster a sister school relationship between NESA and Kanto Acupuncture School in Japan. Ellen has had a background in health care, having worked in the Harvard teaching hospitals prior to studying acupuncture, and she also has a MS in Vocational Rehabilitation.

She is also certified in Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation and has provided amazing results to numerous clients. Ellen brings her expertise and understanding of Asian Medicine, along with her compassionate care, to all those she treats.

Ellen is also senior staff acupuncturist at Domar Center at Boston IVF in Waltham, MA.
